On 17th September, "The Third Guangdong Province Intelligent Water Resources Innovation Competition", which was jointly sponsored by Guangdong Provincial Water Resources Department, Guangdong Provincial Water Resources Society, South China Agricultural University and Shenzhen Guanghuiyuan Water Resources Construction Engineering Co. After two rounds of fierce competition in the preliminary and final rounds, the entry of our civil engineering students, Lv Guo, Chen Lan, Chen Guilin, Liao Bowen, Bi Yuefeng (instructors: Dong Zijun, Sun Xiaohui), ""Intelligent Control of Guangdong Water" Urban Combined Drainage Drainage Intelligent Diversion and Interception System" won the first prize (the only one).
Since the launch of the competition in May this year, it has attracted 103 teams from 29 colleges and universities inside and outside the province to apply for the competition. The outstanding works of 52 teams from Tsinghua University, North China University of Water Conservancy and Hydropower, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Shenzhen University and other colleges and universities entered into the re-competition, and the works cover a variety of fields, such as urban flood forecasting, dam safety monitoring, long-distance water deployment, numerical intelligence control of drainage network and salty tide early warning.
The leadership of the college attached great importance to this competition, carefully organised, and invited the teachers of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre of the university to do pre-competition training for the participating teachers and students. Our participating students fully demonstrated their solid professional knowledge, excellent technological innovation and application ability, good teamwork spirit and excellent psychological quality in the competition. Through the competition, it shows the active exploration and innovative practice of our students in intelligent water conservancy, applying SWMM model, digital twin technology and new flexible materials to the development of intelligent diversion and interception system, and comprehensive application in urban drainage engineering, which achieves the purpose of promoting teaching and learning by competition.
