At the annual meeting of the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE) on 20 April, 25 Chinese experts, including Chen Xiangsheng, Dean of the college of Civil and Transportation Engineering,Shenzhen University, were elected as foreign members of the Russian Academy of Engineering.

Founded in 1990 by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Industry and the Ministry of Defence, the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE) is one of Russia's three major inter-industrial scientific institutions, an influential scientific body and an all-Russian public organisation with a strong integration of resources not only in Russia, but also at home and abroad. The RAE plays an active role in balancing theoretical foundation and practical development to creating a new and sustainable economic and technological environment.
In order to promote Russian-Chinese innovation and cooperation in engineering science and technology actively, since December 2019, the Russian Academy of Engineering has been working with the Beijing Global Talent Exchange and Promotion Association of China and others to establish the Russian Academy of Engineering Chinese Centre in Beijing in December 2020. Newly elected academicians are recommended by the Russian Academy of Engineering Chinese Centre in a unified manner in 2021. The Russian Academy of Engineering makes the selection in accordance with the procedure. It is understood that this is the largest number of Chinese experts elected to the Russian Academy of Engineering in previous years. In his congratulatory letter, President of the Russian Academy of Engineering Gushev expressed his hope that the elected academicians will develop creative and fruitful scientific and technical cooperation for the continued development of Russia and China.
